Functions of Water in the BodyThe human body is anywhere from 55% to 78% water depending upon body size.  A rule of thumb is 2/3 of the body consists of water and is the main component of the body.  Did you know the your tissues and organs are made up of water?  Check out the %:

  •  Muscle consists of 75% water
  • Brain consists of 90% water
  • Bone consists of 22% water
  • Blood consists of 83%  water

The functions of water in the body are vital.  Water:

  • Transports nutrients and oxygen into the cells
  • Moisturizes the air in the lungs
  • Helps with metabolism
  • Protects our vital organ
  • Helps our organs to absorb nutrients better
  • Regulates body tempature
  • Detoxifies
  • Protects and moisturizes our joints

Every cell in your body need water from head to toe.  That is why it is so important to drink enough water, daily.  Take in example the brain, it consists of 90% water, if you don’t supply enough water to your body, the brain cannot function well and you will get headaches or migraines.  So the next time you feel fatigue and headache, it may be a sign of dehydration.  Remember drinking a healthy amount of water is vital to your health.
